The Story Behind the Couple: 

Eric and Lindsey met on a blind date in 2008. Both Eric and Lindsey were single parents. Eric to Maddux (age 2) and Lindsey to Olivia (age 1) They immediately had a connection and began dating. Shortly after they met, Eric and Lindsey decided to start their life together and added Parker James their youngest child to the family. Continuing with the "backwards" theme they decided to buy a house. After a short 6 months of searching for a house they found one, moved in and planned a house warming party. If you know Lindsey, you know she plans a party for EVERYTHING! Eric took this house warming party as a perfect time to purpose to Lindsey in front of her whole family and group of friends. A little over a year after they got engaged Eric and Lindsey tied the knot. If there was one thing that was important to the Bride and Groom it was including their kids in not only the special day but the planning of the special day. Their wedding was a true reflection of family unity, fun-loving and a joyous day.

Added Detail: Lindsey added a vintage feel to the piano with an old luggage piece for guests to place their cards in upon arrival.

Thank You Cards:  Photo of Bride and Groom on a postcard printed from Costco.com. Lindsey chose to do a postcard style thank you because postage is cheaper and she could have everything pre-done and just add special notes to each guest prior to shipping.

Bridal Attire: Dress was bought at House of Fashion in Sacramento and Shoes were from DSW in Folsom. Garter was handmade from Etsy.com

Bridesmaid Attire:  Davids Bridal- See the dress here at Davids Bridal 

Flower Girl Attire:  Hand made Tu-Tu and Leotard with Sparkle shoes and wand

Groom's Attire:  Suits purchased from Men's Warehouse. Eric wore a cream color shirt to be different then his grooms men but still wore a Lapis colored tie so he "tied" in with the groomsmen. Eric wore a tie clip that had "T" on it that belong to his grandfather. 

Groomsmen Attire:  Men's WH suits. They wore Lapis colored shirts and ties. Their oldest son, Maddux, was a Jr. Groomsmen and wore a suit from Costco that was purchased on sale after Easter for $17. It was a lighter purple but they had their dads wear lighter shades of purple to tie it all in. Eric and Lindsey purchased dog tag necklaces for their boys that were monogrammed with their initials on the front an a verse from the bible on the back. During the ceremony Maddux stood with the best man.

Ring bearer Attire:  Eric and Lindsey's youngest son, Parker, was their Ring bearer and he wore an Easter special suit that was purchased Costco.

Bride's Jeweler:  Day of jewelery was Brighton and Wedding ring was from the Diamond exchange in San Francisco, CA.

Groom's Jeweler:  Grooms ring was from Windsor Diamonds in Folsom, CA

Flowers:  Kristi Landphere with The Posh Poesy did Lindsey's personal flowers, bridesmaids flowers, and ceremony flowers. She also created the Groom's boutonniere. Lindsey made handmade boutonnieres for the groomsmen.. (see below) See Kristi's work

Groomsmen Boutonnieres: Lindsey wanted the groomsmen boutonnieres to be a conversation starter. She created them based off of a "story" or memory that Eric had about each guy. They were very surprised on the day of when they got presented with these unique boutonnieres. Each one of them new exactly why theirs was what it was when they received them.

Cake: Forest House Lodge did a cake for Eric and Lindsey. However, with the Bride and Groom not being a big fan of cake they also did a dessert buffet. See more Forest House Cakes by Monica here

Favors:  Candy Bar. Lindsey says; "This is such a fun way to get people up and moving around while also saying, "Thank you for coming and celebrating with us." Eric and Lindsey also had a DIY photo booth and props. They set up their personal camera on a tripod and then posted to Facebook and emailed them to their guests.

Table Decor: There were four square tables that were decorated with handmade manzanita trees with a moss covered base and hanging candles. The table numbers were herb garden sticks with chalk written table numbers. On the circle tables Lindsey and Eric chose to decorate using vintage lanterns with Ivory candles inside, moss accents and tea lights surround. Table numbers were paper numbers being held by a wood stump. The napkins have a twig napkin holder that added dimension and depth to the table.

Memory Table: It was important to Eric and Lindsey to honor the beloved guests that were no longer with their family. Lindsey placed photos in old vintage books and dedicated an old poem, song or quote to them on the front inside cover of the book.

Hi My Name is Lindsey

My name is Lindsey Taylor and I am the Bridal Liaison for the Forest House! I thought since we would be sharing all of this time together (me writing the blogs and you reading them) that I would take some time to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me.

I was born and raised in Folsom, California. I am 1 of 4 kids. I have an older brother and 2 younger sisters. While growing up I was a competitive gymnast which took up most of my time. When I ended my career as a gymnast and started high school I began to get involved in school clubs. My favorite being Pink Ladies. A group of young high school women spreading  the word of Breast Cancer Awareness and raising funds for research through Susan G Koman. I graduated high school and moved on to get my education at Heald College.

Fast forward through all the fun stuff.. college, travel, life lessons, and you get the current, but ever changing, improving ME!

I am a committed mother of 3 beautiful children, a wife to a great provider and man, and a women who has a purpose in life to love and support others. I enjoy mini get-aways or even "stay-cations" with my husband, being outside with my kids, baseball, happy hour with my girl friends and camping!

It's About Time...

So this is it! Our first official blog post. I have spent many weeks trying to decide what to write, how to write it or when to publish it. After collecting some feedback from our amazing Brides and Grooms it has been decided. I am going to be blogging about anything and everything from; getting engaged, planning your wedding at the Forest House, picking your vendors, DIY projects, and anything else you could possibly want to know! In addition to all of the fun planning and design ideas we will be touching base on life after marriage! Houses, jobs, kids, and the Legacy after marriage. Wedding Tips; How to choose a Color Palette

            Today I want to talk about something I have been noticing all year. That is the change in the wedding color palette. Weddings, of course, originated with the simple yet elegant black and white. Still today many people choose this beautiful, elegant theme. However, this year more than ever I have noticed a color appreciation. Many of our Brides & Grooms have been adding a splash of color and spunk to their wedding theme! We have seen splashes of pinks, oranges, blues, yellows, greens and many more! How do you pick a color you might ask? Well I’m here to help!

·         Those of you who are anything like me will just pick colors that they like...I chose Ivory and Black as my base colors and then splashes of blue and orange. However then I began to wonder which oranges and which blues really complement each other and how much of each color do I use?

·         Others will choose a theme first and base the colors on a theme. For instance a vintage wedding would have a certain palette of colors. Whereas an outdoorsy wedding would be themed with natural colors.

·         Some may be lovers of flowers, they may choose their centerpieces and bouquets first and then choose the colors accordingly.

                    Everyone has a different style, and everyone will be unique in their own way. Here are some things to consider while choosing a color palette….

1)      Where is your wedding and reception taking place? You want the colors you choose to compliment the surroundings, not clash with them.      

2)      What Kind of mood or feel do you want to create? Vibrant colors will be cheery and high energy while subtle colors are for more of a romantic feel.

3)      What time of year are you getting married? Generally colors are lighter in the summer and darker in the winter.

Keeping all of these things in mind will help you greatly while choosing an appropriate color palette. Another thing to keep in mind is that it is best to choose only two or three main colors, that way things do not look jumbled and hectic. There are two popular techniques for figuring out which colors complement each other. You can choose colors by looking at a color wheel or giving attention to websites with color palette generators. Or, if you want just use your instinct! Once you choose your colors, be consistent.  Here are some of the most popular colors of 2011 so far:

·         Hot Pink

·         Coral

·         Black & White

·         Yellow

·         Deep Red

·         Fuchsia

·         Slate Grey

·         Purple

·         Latte

                        Whichever color you choose make sure you really love it because you will be seeing A LOT of It while planning the wedding, while enjoying the wedding and then of course reminiscing with your pictures afterwards.
